The Marc Viader Foundation has an important documentary archive referring to the Viader family of Cardedeu, the Granges Viader, Letona, Cacaolat, and the origins of the Catalan dairy industry.
History of Marc Viader
Marc Viader i Bas was a prominent businessman and notable figure in Catalonia.
He and his family were true pioneers and innovators in the agricultural sector, with the Granja Viader de Cardedeu, and in the food industry. They were founders of dairy industries such as Letona and the network of Viader farms in Barcelona and, above all, creators of new indigenous products like Cacaolat.
Interpretation Center - Museum
On the ground floor of Casa Viader, an exhibition dedicated to Marc Viader i Bas is displayed, highlighting his role as a merchant, businessman, farmer, and pioneer in the dairy industry. The exhibition traces the origins of Cacaolat, created by the Viader family in 1933, the world’s first chocolate milk shake. It also includes documents and photographs of Granja Viader on Carrer Xuclà, Granja M. Viader in Cardedeu, and Letona S.A.
Casa Viader
Located in the urban center of Cardedeu, it is a modernist manor house, designed by Manuel Joaquim Raspall between 1917 and 1922, commissioned by the leading Cardedeu industrialist Marc Viader Bas i Bas (1879-1954).
